Liskeard based plumbing & heating firm, SAS & Trewartha's, have been accredited as an MCS Napit approved supplier.
MCS - The Microgeneration Certification Scheme certificates microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. It is an internationally recognised quality assurance scheme, so customers can be confident that the company has and is, committed to meeting a defined and strict set of standards. Installers are assessed on supply, design, installation, set-to-work and commissioning of the renewable microgeneration technologies before any accreditation is awarded.
It has some similarities to the Gas Safe Register, in that it gives a mark of competency and demonstrates to customers that installations are always carried out to the highest standard.
The argument for the use of renewable energy sources has never been stronger than it is now. With incentives being put in place such as 'The Renewable Heat Incentive' providing cash back to those using renewable heat generation and with planning permission for people to use certain renewable technologies being made easier to access, due to permitted development rights introduced in England and Scotland, the demand for this type of energy supply is growing.
It is anticipated that awarding this accreditation to SAS & Trewartha's, recognising their expertise and knowledge of the installation of renewable energy resources, will give confidence to those that are perhaps seeking new ways and more ecological sources for their energy supplies. The presentation of the certificate was carried out by the Member of Parliament for South East Cornwall, Sheryll Murray, who also sees that the accreditation is of huge benefit, adding "As a member of the Environment Audit Committee, I have a keen interest in sustainable development. SAS & Trewartha's are a thriving local business that is moving from strength to strength. Sean provides important employment in the Liskeard area and it is really good to see the Company providing such a comprehensive service and demonstrating a commitment to protect the environment."
